Course-based research experiences (CUREs)

CUREs engage students in scientific inquiry, and they are recognized as an important strategy for broadening participation in STEM research. Studies show positive impacts of CUREs on students, such as enhancing scientific self-efficacy, and increasing their ability to navigate obstacles in research. However, the features of CUREs that yield the greatest benefits to students remain unclear. We are conducting a meta-analysis on CUREs, examining how short, repeated CUREs can impact student confidence, and investigating the relevance of CUREs to students.
